Summer Institute 2020 CAA Australasia is excited to announce our 2020 Summer Institute! The Summer Institute is an intensive, four day, residential writing workshop aimed at producing a textbook introducing undergrads to digital methods in archaeology. When 2 – 5 February, 2020 Where Moreton Bay Research Station and Study Centre on North Stradbroke Island, Queensland. Cost Waged: $150 Student & Unwaged & First Nations: $75 The cost includes both accommodation at MBRS and food while there. Participants will have to make their own way to and from North Stradbroke. You can find out your options for getting to the MBRS from Brisbane Airport here. There will be a limited bursary for travel costs for attendees who are unwaged, students and First Nations attendees. More details will be provided to eligible attendees once they have registered. What The goal of the Summer Institute is to produce an undergraduate textbook about digital methods in archaeology. Digital technologies are an ever-increasing component of all archaeological work, but currently there is no textbook that archaeology undergraduates can turn to which provides a comprehensive overview and introduction to digital methodologies. This publication aims to fill that gap and be a handbook for the next generation of archaeologists from across Australasia. CAA Australasia invites members to contribute archaeological case studies from their own work that utilise digital methods and applications within Australia and abroad. Examples of technological applications may involve: Virtual Reality Geophysics Geographic Information Systems Remote Sensing Photogrammetry 3D modelling and analysis Data management, licensing and intellectual property Simulation and agent modelling Theory and ethics This publication welcomes contributions not just from academic archaeologists, but also heritage consultants and practitioners. We invite anyone who would like to contribute, from experts to people who can chase down references or produce illustrations. Register now to reserve a place at the Summer Institute.
