Three boats are anchored in the channel between Lions Park and Woy Woy Public Wharf. The water is reflectively still; there are a few puffy clouds. One of the boats is bluer than the sky and a rather odd shape (which is reflected in the water); the other two are plain white. The island on the far side of the channel — Pelican Island — is low and mangrove-covered. I grew up near here in the Woy Woy area.

A pre-dawn urban streetscape: a large (ten-lane) freeway overcrossing with the word "RICHMOND" painted on it; going under the freeway is San Pablo Avenue, a busy four-lane local urban highway; in the foreground a pedestrian crossing across Roosevelt Avenue and a feeway onramp. There are two tall light poles in the foreground, each with traffic lights hung on them. The scene looks deserted, which is misleading — even at the 6am I took this there's usually a steady stream of cars and more than the occasional pedestrian (like me) on San Pablo (the freeway is, of course, busy all day and night).

A beautiful old stone hut with a corrugated tin roof is nestled in the trees trailside (and streamside!) about 8,000' up in California's Eastern Sierra.
