Refugee & migration management also featured strongly. The #StrongCities twinning between Koboko πΊπ¬ & Musina πΏπ¦ β two border towns facing high cross-border migration β inspired #Musina to launch a one-stop migration help desk with guidance from Koboko & the #ESA Regional Hub. 4/6
We also heard how with support from the #StrongCities, Masaka πΊπ¬ drew on youth advisors & lessons from Mombasa π°πͺ to launch regular dialogues with young people to understand their needs better & deliver joint radio & community-led campaigns against hate & extremism. 3/6
The roundtable featured powerful impact case studies, such as the #StrongCities peer exchange between Nansana πΊπ¬& Stellenbosch πΏπ¦. This collaboration led to a Neighbourhood Watch in Nansana, which Mayor Regina credited for improved trust in #localgov & made communities safer. 2/6
Eunice Lee, Senior Programme Manager at Strong Cities, welcomed participants & introduced the #StrongCities Prevention Academy Canada, supporting municipalities to tackle hate, discrimination, division & social polarisation through long-term prevention.
