Drone metal band Sunn O))) on stage at the Barbican Centre, London. They're all wearing hooded robes, like monks, with Sunnhenge (as I call it) behind them. Sunnhenge is a semi-circle of Marshall amps that go all the way to 11. They're drenched in yellow and red light, and swirling dry ice. Never go see this band and sit/stand at the front: all you see is dry ice!
Sunnhenge (a semi-circle of Marshall amps) awaits drone metal outfit Sunn O))) at London's Southbank Centre. There's a low reddish light behind the amps, and white lights above. You can just make out a stack of speakers high above the audience to the right. Sunn O))) weren't the loudest band this night. That honour went to Phurpa, a mid-western group who played Buddhist drone and rattled the lights loose!
My Bloody Valentine on stage in Hammersmith, London. The crowd make up two-thirds of the pic, and are lit by the stage lights from behind the band. These guys are also loud in concert. In fact, you're not allowed in without ear protection as they turn everything up to full volume for maximum impact. Shoegaze as a sonic weapon!
Slowdive at Terminal 5, New York. The venue was once storage for the docks. The lighting is above the band and almost gives the impression of an ornate building. On closer inspection it reveals itself to be air-conditioning pipes and infrastructure!
Last lot for #SundayPixEntertainment Sunn O))) at the Barbican and Southbank Centre, My Bloody Valentine in Hammersmith, and Slowdive in NY.
