Got my youngest set up with #SurgeXT synth on his Linux desktop and he's happily messing with virtual knobs neither of us understand well enough. He had a lovely sound with some delay going and the others decided it sounded like the game #Veloren so now they're all playing that.

I made a simple drumkit for shortcircuit xt, free for download & licensed under CC0.
5 Velocity Levels x 3 Round Robins per hit.
Also includes a folder of all the samples as .wav files if you prefer working in audio.

Additive, FM, subtractive (tons of filters & waveshapers - weird oscillators too), wavetable, and all imaginable combinations of the above… #SurgeXT does it all, packaged in an unashamedly digital experience. A tad overwhelming but it sounds wonderful and made my evening. Also, it is Free software !

One idea I've had is to use a node interface instead and let users effectively program their own synthesizer. This way, it allows it to provide every sort of synthesis imaginable and allow different people with different ways of thinking to better use the program. #SurgeXT

I like Surge XT, but one issue I have with it (and I'm not the only one) is how complex the GUI is. I don't mind an all-in-one synthesizer, but I think the interface needs a complete overhaul. #SurgeXT
