spent so much of yesterday and today setting up arch and #swaywm
its paying off though
oh also waywall is amazing
My fancy launcher which shows the time date and weather, built with rofi
My audio mixer, network controller and file browser pop-ups made with alsamixer, nmtui and yazi, and configured as foating windows in swaywm.
The combination of it being stonking hot and then raining has meant that I've achieved a lot less of the stuff I was hoping to do around the house before Christmas. But I have tweaked my #swaym installation and configured some nice #TUI widgets on the laptop […]

Fedora Sway 43 on a spare Beelink S12 with Neovim (NvChad). There's so much to configure and so many rabbit holes to jump into. May be worth writing a blog post about it later.
Let's see if I can escape all these rabbit holes first.

Saturday morning project: Install #NixOS with the latest #COSMIC DE on a spare Beelink S12 for a test drive. If it doesn't go well, I'll use #SwayWM instead.
Just more of an effort to get to know NixOS a little better.
#Linux
I've updated sway2sway. The headless output is now removed when the connection is terminated (supported since #sway 1.8).
sway2sway is a simple shell script, acting as a x2x equivalent for sway. A keyboard and mouse connected to a primary computer running sway be used seamlessly on another […]
OK, so I found a bug in #FootTerminal that appears to cause it to miss characters coming from stdout. Either that, or a bug in... grep.
I'm busy right now, but I've taken screenshots and I might (really, should) get around to reporting this bug.

Trying out #xmonad instead of #swaywm (which means reverting to x11 from wayland). Don’t have anything against wayland but I miss the variety of window managers — I used xmonad for years (probably 2007–12) and I find I still prefer its tiling model to sway/i3’s.
Still some issues to sort out with
Me: Gonna get my system configured so that I'll be SO PRODUCTIVE!!
My boss a week later: So have you done $WORK_THING?
Me <sweating>: Uhh, yeah, on it now, should be done, uh, soon <hides terminal window with ~/.config/sway/config open in #helix, closes #arch wiki and r/sway tabs>
#SwayWM […]
A screenshot of a sway desktop, customised with colourful gruvbox-tinted workspaces at left (complete with nerd font icons for each app), the window title at centre, and all sorts of notifications, weather, date, speaker slider, brightness slider, battery, network, and disk space symbols to the right. The screen is split into two panes: the left has Tootle open with this thread, and the right has a foot terminal showing fastfetch with the postmarketos logo in ascii art. The Host is listed as "Pine64 Pinebook Pro" running Linux 6.6.34 on a Rockchip rk3399-mali. There's loads of other data but honestly I never read it in detail often.
@futurebird
Hmm I really don't want to keep using #gnome since it's just not for me vastly prefer a tiling wm but the xdg portal is just so much better. Could go back to #swaywm but I'd lose good screen sharing, I couldn't get wlx-overlay to work, and electron apps were having consistent issues. #linux
I see KDE Plasma screenshots and want to go back to DE because it just works most(?) of the time and looks beautiful.
But I'm already get used to Sway so much.
Even with Polonium script and custom keybinds, Plasma has a very different experience: an overcomplicated set of software […]
#Sway 1.11 RC1 has been released ( #SwayWM / #Wayland / #WaylandProtocol / #WaylandCompositor / #DisplayServer / #WindowManager / #X11 ) swaywm.org
After years of using Pop!_OS I was getting a bit tired of not being able to easily use the latest and greatest versions of packages.
Wanted to try Arch but without the arduous install - #endeavouros fit the bill perfectly.
Happily running swayfx on nvidia without any problems. #swaywm #linux
Does anyone have any tips for setting up sway wm and some basic apps?
I'm on fedora sway rn and currently trying to copy endeavours sway spins config style #swaywm #fedora #linux #windowmanager
Migrated my #swaywm config to #niri. Everything worked super well, I could replicate 90% of my shortcuts/behavior from sway with no issues. And I finally get my beloved rounded corners without depending on a fork.
Watched #Silo season 2 and happened to noticed this scene of a camera view. The interface kinda looks like a custom config of some type of tiling window manager in #Linux. Maybe #SwayWM or #Hyprland, maybe?
fuck #nvidia for nearly single-handedly holding back #linux adaptation, but also fuck #swaywm for at times downright insulting the user for hardware they may not have had a choice in the matter of. And fuck everyone for not having tiling WMs that aren't dogshit on wayland.
I swear rounded borders in #swaywm has cured my squarepression
I'm really sad that #swaywm won't ever receive rounded corners because I just tried out #swayfx and it's too pretty 😭
