If I can "do it" in my head, don't need to write down my thinking.

Here's some visual number lines to help figure out 49 bags of 27 m&ms. We know 50 x 27 will be half of 100 x 27, or 10 times 5 x 27...
Then to figure out 49 bags, we subtract 1 bag of 27 from 1350.
Number lines: can show 1350 – 27 then – 7, OR
1350 – 30 then + 3

Why does this work? Squaring numbers that end in 5 35^2 = 1225 85^2 = 7225 65^2 = 4225 95^2 = 9025 In each result, the first 2 digits are underlined. What is 75^2? What is 45^2?
Why does it work? (10n+5)(10n+5) for some whole number n = 100n^2 +100n +25 = n(n+1)(100) + 25
