The Gold Coast got a beautiful beach & #Brisbane got sand islands off the coast which protected it from the #cyclone.

A very sobering update from Hervey Bay:
Bay Plaza in the Pialba CBD, which flooded extensively on Sunday morning, is set to be out of action for a month minimum.
Most, if not all, the smaller retailers there have no flood insurance.

Recovering from tropical cyclone Alfred! Started putting back in place everything brought inside or tied down. Also started cleaning out the pool which has inevitably collected a large crop of leaves and twigs.
Internet came back up this morning.

Beach erosion after #TCAlfred looks bad. But the beaches will recover over time as the sand is transported back on shore by the wind and waves. Based off citizen science monitoring of beach’s through programs such as coastcam. Service continue to keep taking photos and contributing to the science.

At the café yesterday, we had a convo with the person at the next table.
She'd decided that Alfred was no where near as bad as the 2023 Xmas storm.
She hadn't considered that the trees, fences etc that fell/were removed/fixed then would have otherwise fallen this time.
The QFS was called to rescue a wallaby from the floods after #TCAlfred.
They managed to extract the poor thing & he's now in the hands of #animal carers.
