The Spirit Element is believed to be the most ancient of the Primary Arcana, encompassing within it not just the traditional "spooky specters" and similar undead imagery one may usually associate with the word, but the sense of willpower that exists within the soul of all Terranians. Truly, "Spirit" in this context has a far more personal meaning to the caster, and Spirit mages are characterized by the mental and emotional clarity required to hone such a personal art. The Golden Mask is used most commonly to represent the Spirit Element, being a symbol from an old tale about a Masklin bathed in gold who eventually sacrificed herself to seal away an ancient evil within her mask. While most see it as a total fable, many pieces of art still include this mask within their imagery, to "honor their legacy" in a sense.
