He also has a long tail with a fluffy tip.

Errant the elven aasimar (a nickname he picked when leaving home to match Yonder better and to avoid his real, frilly name) comes from a family of circus folk going back generations. His mother was the star animal handler, and his father part of the strongman act. Their ancestors were blessed by an azata with luck and favor, and so the need to continue to impress their celestial patron was hard-baked into the family. When Errant was born with more aasimar traits than usual it was taken as a sign and he had a lot of pressure put on him from a young age to take up an important role and become one of the future stars and leaders of the circus. Then, when a smaller traveling troupe gets absorbed into the circus, he meets Yonder the tiefling who convinces him eventually over the course of a year or so of slowburn friendship to leave and find his own path. So they run away from the circus together. Errant is trans-masc and uses any pronouns. They're queer and in a sort of FWB situationship with Yonder where Errant has feelings for the tiefling but has no idea where Yonder's feelings lie and refuses to talk or even really think too hard on it out of concern that they'll ruin it. Statistically, Errant is a barbarian and as such has a hot temper and habit of picking fights, but he's strong enough that he usually wins. Yonder is excellent at using this to their advantage, knowing exactly how to get Errant into fight mode and how to redirect them at the correct target.
Yonder the samsaran tiefling was raised in a distant mountaintop monastery, his birth a prophetic herald of divine destiny that he never wanted. He was trained from childhood to walk the divine path of enlightenment and become a great leader of his people, possibly a final incarnation of some great historical samsaran. Eventually he ran away to join the circus instead. After traveling with a smaller troupe for a while, they joined up with a larger circus where Yonder met Errant. Though their friendship started out a bit rocky (Yonder had some suggestions for an act Errant was perfecting and Errant has never been great at taking critique from total strangers), eventually the two became close friends and when Yonder decided to leave the circus to continue traveling, Errant went with. So they ran away from the circus together. Yonder is non-binary (agender-ish?) and uses he/they most but is generally okay with any pronouns. He is queer and in a sort of FWB situationship with Errant that largely, to Yonder, involves affection but is not exclusive or binding in any sort of solid relationship kind of way. Statistically Yonder is a monk, excelling in redirecting the energy and momentum of much larger foes, commanding a battlefield with acrobatic leaps and spinning strikes of his bo staff. Yonder is also excellent at knowing exactly how to get Errant into fight mode and how to redirect them at the correct target.
