This is a medieval-style drawing of a saint or monk. The man is standing on grass, wearing a long brown robe with wide sleeves and a hood. His hair is short on top with a ring of hair around his head, showing the style called a tonsure. Behind his head is a round halo, drawn as a circle with lines inside. He is holding a book in his left hand, pressed to his chest, and in his right hand he holds a long stick attached to a large grid-shaped object, possibly a grill. The background is filled with red and white flower and vine patterns, making the scene decorative and ornate.
