so.... the literature cites the first magnetic tape recordings of volcanoes as the 1950 recordings by NHK Broadcasting Bureau of the Strombolian eruption of Izu-Oshima volcano.
But when I was at GVP during AGU we found recordings of Hekla labeled as 1947!
