Much more pastel like, the Sinking of Sun casts even the snow-covered trees in shadow, painting the sky in rich hues of purples and pinks.

Ah that's much better. Ground layers are in the right order now, with heather poking through at various points.

Watch-tower is a huge, strategic wooden structure overseeing the lake.

Many hours of work still needed on this location, not least on toning down the grass colour. But this is on the "island" from the previous shot. It is the home of one of my people groups.

Life and pain hasn't given me brain space for my own fiction (non-fanfic) writing. While I've got NJ on my lap, reopening a @terragen file to work on another location in my world. This is just a rough terrain render.

@charmed_chloe @terragen So different times of day are works by adjusting the sun (manually), the level of light, the colour of the sky, any clouds etc etc etc. All manually. Which is why #terragen projects take a good number of hours :) #TerraGen4

Had a lot of time with NJ today and am still *really* struggling with pain among other things.

But I've managed to further develop my Forest in @terragen. Likely the edge of said Forest. Moved the sun so it's better lit.

There are *loads* of flaws in this, but it's only 2-3hrs into the project.

Started to work on a wood/forest in @terragen. Sadly the free version only allows you to import 3 populations of objects, so working on grass and two species of tree. This is just a draft wireframe, but this place is key to my own fiction I'm writing.

Had a fair amount of time with NJ on my lap so

🌳 denser wood with variations in tree-height
🌴 2 different types of trees
🌱 thin actual grass layer (not just green colours)
☁️ wispy clouds

Dark trees but shadows cast.

Need to add grass and some low-level bushes, but I vowed not to push myself too much and learn in little bits. So trees and their shadows is still an extra step in learning. Oh and getting the camera closer to specific things.

Very early days but experimenting with adding objects onto landscapes today. Need to do something while NJ watches Kids TV on my other screen!

So started adding trees to my mountainside.

Finally. Added 30minutes to work length of time to make, but meant render time was 1hr after that.

* Added a touch of 'dawn' pink
* Moved the sun so it's just leaving the cloud.
* Darkened cloud a touch more
* Edges smoothed a little in #GIMP.

Today's #TerraGen4 time, I looked into how to create sun rays, rather than just the ball of fire in the sky. The blue is pixelated but I think that's because I did nothing on environmental lighting. Just wanted to learn one thing today.

Total time spent: 1 hour.

Adjustments made:

* Sparse Heather
* Moved sun to cast shadows
* adjusted lighting so moving towards dusk
* added a bit of haze

Am very slowly getting there.
