Well, what do you know? Using #Lutris I was able to get @terragen.bsky.social #TerraGen working on #Linux.
I have to not get distracted from writing and drawing by it but I'm glad to have recovered this neat concept tool.

An imaginary, grey and white dusty mountain (it's not snow, because I made the mountain). The sky is red with thin, grey clouds. Atop the mountain a red dragon is perched, wings out, as though about fly. Overlaying this scene is a quote that reads "Judge not a being by the shell it inhabits" (Chief Ki-E-Vwa, who is a character in my fantasy writing).
Browsing some back-up photos unearthed this #ChroniclesOfQalath one. It looks like it was made in an old version of @terragen.bsky.social but I have indeed added a quote by one of my key characters.
I did this in 2019 when I thought my first novel was nearly ready. I miss #Terragen on Linux.

In fact RPG Maker VX was the era in which I deliberately went with using #terragen to make 3D rendered background, while using default RTP character graphics.

I made some ominous landscape renders with #Terragen. Intended for use as #skybox or "matte paintings" for #Doom game. Well, i need to make a real skybox but ill figure it out. 2d sky/ matte painting style will work right away ofcourse. Top one i had fun in PS making it look point and click game?.

About to go and see Mum after talking about decision-thingies with Dad.
Around that I've started a 'learning exercise' in #TerraGen. Wanted to begin to see if I could make a purple/orange dusk like #lotro. Early days! My colours are too deep & no trees yet.

Around talking with Dad, instead of gaming which would cut me off, I've been slowly building on an area for my own #Fantasy writing. So I can escape to somewhere.
The grass is way to vivid, but there are 2.5m blades of it, so yeah. But I'm getting there, thanks to #TerraGen.

Many hours of work still needed on this location, not least on toning down the grass colour. But this is on the "island" from the previous shot. It is the home of one of my people groups.

Life and pain hasn't given me brain space for my own fiction (non-fanfic) writing. While I've got NJ on my lap, reopening a @terragen file to work on another location in my world. This is just a rough terrain render.

@charmed_chloe @terragen So different times of day are works by adjusting the sun (manually), the level of light, the colour of the sky, any clouds etc etc etc. All manually. Which is why #terragen projects take a good number of hours :) #TerraGen4

Had a lot of time with NJ today and am still *really* struggling with pain among other things.
But I've managed to further develop my Forest in @terragen. Likely the edge of said Forest. Moved the sun so it's better lit.

Think I need to move the Sun, but tree density and variety is better here, in this daytime shot. Might add a few extra Maples in as well, another day.

There are *loads* of flaws in this, but it's only 2-3hrs into the project.
