Circle of life. Did you know Eastern Box Turtles are omnivores? This #terrapenecarolina turtle is adding some protein to the diet. We had a mouse infestation in the house and provided remains for predators to enjoy. Have seen hawks appreciate them but it was a first to witness a turtle!

Unplugging during lunch with a walk in the woods while raining. Encountered an Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina) slurping down a snail! A few minutes later, he looked satisfied! Why a he? Males usually have orange/reddish eyes while females have brown. #terrapenecarolina
