A #CountedThread Octagon with a burgundy border. Inside the space is a complex 16-pointed star motif created with thread and beads. In the centre of the star motif is a maroon flower bead. The #Needlepoint #Embroidery is on scroll bars that you can't see, but the base of the image is pink felt protecting the already #Stitched area from being compressed as it is rolled onto the bars.

Photo of a canvas Alphabet sampler taken outside in the sun so you see shadows of concrete and natural light around the Sampler. The needlepoint design itself is made up of 3 x 11 boxes, each with one or two letters tent stitched in the box. Around the letters in a monochrome fashion are samples of stitches, filling the box, that begin with the same letter. I've used 5 main colours for the box contents starting with blue for A, then orange, yellow, teal and purple for the next four letters, and then repeated for the rest of the design. This design was the basis for the subsequent pieces, the #ForwardAphabetSampler (which I did on smaller count and removed the letters so I could add more stitch variety) Chart or kit available through your #LocalNeedleworkShop or www.texturedtreasures.ca

As I spent the early hours writing the story of how the "Forward Alphabet Sampler" came to be, here's my original #Needlepoint Aphabet Sampler. In each square the stitches start w the letter(s) for that square.
