Next month March 2025 starts Crime and Punishment Month at The Guildhall in Leicester. There will be some amazing talks and events. I myself will be indulging the crime seekers, giving two talks. See link...........
The Story of Mabel Pepper - This is a relatively new research topic, and as I delved deeper into my research on Mabel, I stumbled across the St. Mary Magdalene Refuge and Night Shelter in The Newarke, which bears a striking resemblance to the infamous Magdalene Laundry scandals that occurred in Ireland. However, it's important to recognise that, even though their names sound alike, these two institutions are not the same. Additionally, in Leicester, there were many homes specifically established for women and girls who have "fallen" from societal expectations. This topic is fascinating and requires further investigation.
