I still can scarcely believe, as a land geologist, that I experienced was able to sail on #TheJR for #IODP379 deep sea drilling in outer #AmundsenSea. (And a lucky thing, too -- because there was a quantity of #IRD ice rafted ROCK debris that glaciers carved out of the continental bedrock!)
