On the 28th August 2025, on my family’s way home from South Australia, I found the address of the Parry’s.
Driving into that leafy street, the shrubbery and the streetscape felt familiar, and we parked our car almost in the spot Tim parked too.

Although the Kar-Rama Motel has been remodelled beyond recognition, these photos I took of the motel today gives you a rough idea of where our News At Six crew spent their time in ‘Darwin’.

If the architecture of 333 Collins Street wasn’t cool enough, there was a board on its history, and a miniature model of the complex, as well as a stunning ornate vase down a little hallway!
They seriously couldn’t have made this place any prettier! 😍

This tremendous domed structure might not have seen the stock market crash of 1987, but it would have seen an incredible amount of financial activity the multiple decades earlier, all the way back to the 1890s.

From when it was built, 333 Collins Street was the headquarters and the banking chamber of the Commercial Bank Of Australia, making it therefore fitting for #TheNewsreader’ s filming team to use as a stock exchange!

333 Collins Street was heritage registered by the Victorian Heritage Register in 1974, for its significance to architectural and financial history.

333 Collins Street is a breathtaking piece of architecture.
The Italian-inspired internal dome, marble floors, ornate vases, water feature wall and golden embellishments absolutely wows you when you when you are in the room 💖🌟

Standing in the same spot as Noelene, Rob, Ross and Brian, I felt the adrenaline of the stock market crash, and over a century of financial history 💖🌟

One of the coolest locations #TheNewsreader has used for filming is 333 Collins Street, also known as The Dome! We see it in S02E03 - ‘Greed And Fear’.
Back in January, I visited this pretty place, and will be adding it to my #TheNewsreaderOnLocation series this week! 💖🌟🎥
How lovely did it feel to really be in the spot that #RobRickards and #StephenPeacocke sat in 39 and 4 years ago, respectively.
I couldn’t help but look over my shoulder as I was enjoying my meal, wondering if Rob might still be there 😉

We also had an indulgent lunch there, and let me say that I have not had a brownie that delicious since my visit to The Lincoln. Brilliant customer service and incredible food!

The Lincoln was built at 91 Cardigan Street in 1854, and its signature Art Deco style look was achieved through renovations in 1939. It has been a part of the Carlton community for 171 years, and was 132 years old in 1986, when News At Six ‘visited’ it.
