Like a lot of android TV fiction they made the androids too humanlike in terms of their emotions and sensual side. A major pitfall to be avoided.
Also the cop at the end talking of a law where androids being set free if illegally hunted. That's not how any law works.

The only interesting thing about this is that it's a sequel to TV ep #4.03 "Unnatural Selection" (19-Jan-96).
But this ep is irredeemably useless in terms of its message, how it treats genetics and its science.

Though I would far prefer it if these 12 novellas had been written for adults and had differing authors, y'know like the actual parent TV show God forbid, I did enjoy this novella which was a riff on "Jurassic Park". At 115 pages they don't outstay their welcome.

Ok these are for younger readers and boy they'd have been bored senseless with this one note, unsubtle, plotless attempt at a story. Again it's very strange that John Peel was tasked to write 12 of these.

Fairly decent little time travel story. I liked the characters even if Peel's dialog is in no shape believable for a 12 year old and like every character speaks the same way. But in the confines of a 1990s novella John Peel's lack of ability doesn't drag it down.

How did Diane Duane's novelisation compare to John Peel's?
Peel had the advantage he could flesh it out so he put more insight into Aggie's thoughts. The lack thereof was a weakness of the TV ep which Duane followed tightly. I'd still prefer to read Duane over Peel.

Oh give me stregnth. This TV episode was already novelised by Diane Duane (15-Jan-97) so 9 months later a different author is novelising it separately? It's not even a good episode of the show. But this is genuinely crazy scheduling!!!

A decent start to these 12 novellas. Maybe it won't be too painful as Peel can seemingly write when he isn't suckin Terry Nation's dick.
The Zanti announement at the end is so 1963 that I don't think Peel should have modernised this to 1997 as this story is a relic.

Overall it's more like John Peel's Target novelisations that his EDAs that entirely screwed the pooch which coincidentally was also in 1997/98.
I liked the unexpected #Dragnet bit but would 1997 teens do Dragnet jokes? Like modernise it from 1964 or don't Peel!
