In 1400 & 92 Columbus sailed the ocean blue!
From centuries to counting days... cruel empires fail to mend their ways...
Day 1400 & 93: Ukraine was on a winning spree.
Day 1400 & 94? Iran's still winning Taco's War.

The Christmas Carol © 2007, 2025 David B. Stewart A carol softly touched my ear… It whispered: "Christmastime is near." Slow to move from off my chair, I ran stiff fingers through my hair And wondered: "Why did I not see this season sneaking up on me?" It snuck with nothing new I fear. It comes at this time every year. Saw Halloween. Heard turkey’s call. No, nothing new this year at all. I sat in sounds of nothing said still plowing fingers 'cross my head And really didn’t have a clue. I nearly missed it. Yes, it’s true! The neighbor’s trim was lighting up. I grasped my empty coffee cup And took a sip of nothing there. “That’s it!” I said and left my chair. I’d filled my empty insides up with nothing but a coffee cup! No spirit of the season here. No love for life or Christmas cheer. Still... songs of Christmas long ago Spark within some hearts... a glow. It wakes and warms the chilly soul That settles in as we grow old. Songs of old that make hearts young And roll so sweetly off the tongues Of angels (who don’t know they are) Yet whisper joys both near and far… I’d nearly missed it all, you see? That carol had been sung for me! Remember if your season slips: May Christmas joys be on your lips And bring you back to proper cheer To have a wonder-filled new year! # # #
I find myself too angry to write what's brewing. So, its back to the well of the past. This revised verse from 2007 seems to address some of the reality that has unwillingly become 2025, but far more gently.
