Despite being connected (loosely) to previous stories, #TheHarvest and #TheReaping, as well as briefly referencing #TheVeiledLeopard, #DoctorWho's #TheGathering remained its own story. By that, I mean you could follow the plot easily, without having to listen to the others.
Presented in two halves with the first part being Peri and Erimem and the latter being Ace and Hex, #TheVeiledLeopard involves Peri and Erimem being sent by the 5th Doctor to prevent it being stolen and Ace and Hex being sent by the 7th Doctor to steal it.
#DoctorWho's #TheVeiledLeopard is a precursor to #BigFinish's #CompanionChronicles range and I can see why the latter proved to be popular. The Doctor is a great character, but sometimes it is nice for a Doctor-less story where the companion(s) take centre-stage.
