This hidden gem is a fantastic option for a quick escape into nature, a peaceful mountain trek, or just a quiet spot to reflect. A Christmas Day Adventure 🎄 On December 25, 2025, my friend and I decided to ditch the usual holiday crowds and explore this beautiful hill located near #Periyanaickenpalayam, just a short drive from the main city. We started our journey around 10 AM, excited for a bit of trekking and fresh air. The weather was perfect and the initial path seemed inviting. 🌤️ The Climb & A Big Mistake 🥵 What started as an easy nature walk quickly turned into a bit of a challenge! The climb up Othaparai Malai is more demanding than it looks. By the time we reached about three-fourths of the way up the mountain, we were completely exhausted. 😅 And here’s a pro-tip for anyone planning this trip: Do NOT forget to carry water! 💧 We made the rookie mistake of leaving our water bottles behind and we dearly regretted that decision as the sun beat down on us. The thirst was real! So, if you add this to your list of coimbatore trekking places, make sure hydration is priority number one. A Hidden Temple Surprise 🕉️ Despite our exhaustion and thirst, pushing through was worth it. At the three-quarter mark, we discovered a small, open-air temple dedicated to Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha). 🐘 It’s a incredibly peaceful spot with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Usually, in a Vinayaka temple, you would expect to see a Mooshika (mouse). But here, facing Lord Vinayaka is a statue of Nandi, the divine bull who is the vahanam of Lord Shiva! 🐂
