A former Johnny Rockets restaurant storefront at 1322-A 3rd St in Santa Monica. The storefront has the familiar Johnny Rockets red bottle cap sign above signage that reads in big red letters: BURGERS, SHAKES, FRIES. The ‘F’ in FRIES is slightly tilted to the right and looks like it’s about to fall, which is a clue to the abandonment of the property. The red and white 1950s style diner facade is dirty and shows signs of wear and tear. There is a large blue Tenzer Commercial Brokerage Group For Lease sign in the window. Through the windows vestiges of the former restaurant are visible, including stacked red chairs that were formerly used on the patio.

The interior of an abandoned Johnny Rockets restaurant at 1322-A 3rd St in Santa Monica. It is only lit by the outdoor light coming through the windows—there is no lighting on in the space. It is a familiar 1950s style diner space with a large black countertop, red swivel chairs facing the counter and a black and white plaid floor. Everything appears as it likely did on the last day of operation. Signs and lighting fixtures still hang from the ceiling, and restaurant items like paper plates and ketchup bottles are on the countertop—albeit in somewhat disarray. Patio tables are stacked on the left near a 1950s style black and white mural of Santa Monica Pier.

Taken from the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and 3rd St in Santa Monica looking northwest. A metal frame to support a facade is being constructed on a large imposing facade. The metal framing of a rooftop patio is visible above the facade. Openings in the facade expose empty space inside the building. This is a construction site in progress for HQ Gastropub.
