A view across the River Thames from Shornemead Marshes, a few miles east of Gravesend, Kent. Landscape format: the bottom section of the image shows the grass river bank - a couple of bushes to the left, with a small group of semi-wild ponies grazing at the edge of the river bank. Long shadows. Above the bank, the river, grey and largely featureless. On the horizon, the north bank of the river, low, with Tilbury B power station just to the left of centre: two blocks with chimneys above them. The power station has since been demolished and the site now houses a roll on roll off cargo terminal. Above that, roughly half of the image, the sky is filled with puffy cloud, blue grey, with the sun shining into it. The ponies had a wide area to roam and graze (and reproduce)...several miles of river bank from the edge of Gravesend. Taken with a Nikon D7000 and 18.0-105.0 mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens, 20 October 2014.
