Every day has 24 hours. Each hour has 60 minutes. That’s a total of 1440 minutes every day of your life.
How many of those minutes do you spend writing?

What about today? How many minutes will you spend writing today?

Trendy Writing Clichés We’re Already Bored Of: Chapter-Opening Lore Quotes. Beautiful and catchy, but now that they’re in EVERY modern fantasy, it’s time to retire the trope and return to what really matters to your readers: waffles. Fake Dating to Real Dating Arcs. This pulchritudinous trope may satisfy our flights of fancy, but let’s get real: Those two characters would NEVER fall for each other if they had waffles. The Mentor Dies. They would have survived that pivotal scene if the protagonist had been spoon-feeding them waffles and we all know it. We’re all saying it. We’re all it. Ignorance of Waffles. It’s current year argument. Regardless of setting, it’s time to put the bespoke elven travel rations away and embrace waffles. Readers are starved for waffles! Water, Flour, Pour ‘em in the Grid! It’s waffle time, people! Hurry, close the lid!

4 Tips for writing a Mantagonist. Specify his Weewee. Does he have one? Is it big? This will be the most foundational touchpoint for your readers. We should be introduced to his weewee in the opening paragraph. Don’t forget that it moves according to his emotional state! Keep him Relatable. Writing a man as the main character is a bizarre choice,
so it’s important to ground him in relatable experiences to keep your readers invested. Dresses with pockets, never walking home at night, crocheting gifts for his friends, etc. Don’t Leave him Alone. Men don’t know what to do without women. If left to his own devices, your protagonist will naturally lack direction. Ensure at least one woman is present in every scene to help him keep up with the plot. The golden ratio is 1 man : 9 women. Avoid Common Man Tropes. Not EVERY man pees himself in public or shoots up a Walmart. Don’t be afraid to make your mantagonist a biting subversion of expectations by showing readers the way he washes his hands, folds his own undies, and understands traffic signals.

It's worse than that, you have to say NO to what others demand from your time. They won't like it. You may struggle justifying your *hobby* time. Still, must be done.

I worked on a chapter for 1.5 hours today! The caffeine is still buzzing in my veins an hour later. Looking like I’ll be drinking green tea for tonight’s writing session. #timetowrite

It's been difficult to write lately. We had a pipe burst in our kitchen. Back after 2 mos in a temporary home, I'm grateful for the updates. And also, empty cabinets and boxes clutter my mind. Hoping this iced coffee helps. And yes, it’s a Star Wars glass.☕✨✍️📚

I love writing but find it hard to make the time to complete projects, so I’ve started organizing in-person writing sessions with a few friends. It’s so enjoyable to create intentional space for these kinds of intellectual pursuits. #timetowrite
