From upper left to lower right are drawings of three legendary players from various eras of Michigan Football--Willie Heston, hero of the 1902 Rose Bowl; Tom Harmon, Michigan's first Heisman winner from 1940; and finally Desmond Howard, depicted in the Heisman pose he struck after returning a punt against Ohio State in 1991, just weeks before being awarded it himself. The drawings of the three players just barely touch each other, showing the connection across 90 years of tradition. In the upper right is a drawing of the gate of Ferry Field, Michigan's home prior to the construction of Michigan Stadium, overplayed by a snippet of a poem by Grantland Rice, reading: "And then i wander the ancient ways, To dream a dream I love best.
