The stone settings under excavation
These two stone settings were probable tombs. They were in Nya Grustag, Ålstorp in Laholms municipality in Halland, Sweden. They were excavated before development. Only some pottery was found. The tombs are likely to be from Iron Age. Photo: Kulturmiljö Halland #TombsTuesday

During the earliest stages of #Pompeii, the main burial site was outside the Herculaneum Gate. The #Tombs attributed to #burials dating back to the Samnite period (5th-4th C BC). The #dead were interred in #graves or stone coffins.
