FROM COUNTY LEGISLATOR, RACHEL OSTLUND
February 17th, 2026

District #16, County Legislator Report

(View Full Report Here)

At our last Legislature meeting, we spent a great deal of time learning and talking about the NYSEG rate case. Evidentiary hearings are currently underway in Albany, and the final rates have not yet been announced, although NYSEG is asking for a proposed residential delivery rate increase of 35% for electric and 39.4% for gas. These rate increases would likely only be for one year, and NYSEG plans to file another rate case this summer. Please see the full County report for more details, including the many reasons why Tompkins County is opposed to these rate increases. As always, please reach out anytime with questions: rostlund@tompkins-co.org. Thank you!
