I was out shooting how the ice was receding and starting to melt on some local lakes. I was really excited when I found this dead tree lying on the lake floor right by the edge of the ice and lying on on an area of underwater plants as if it was its bed. The colour of the water was incredible too and I loved how it showed through the ice.
This is my favourite drone shot and also one of my faves overall.

This was three years ago when there was a cold snap in November and it snowed in the Highlands. I was up in the Highlands for a few days on a photo trip with a friend. This particular morning we went out early to capture the snowy scenes before it melted. I really liked the minimalism of this scene. I also really liked the textures of the lacy white trees with the dark line of the river.
I haven’t had many opportunities to get drone images in Scotland with snow. So when you’ve got snow around, you have to take advantage of it!

A drone image looking down at the remains of a forest in the Canadian Rockies (outside of the national parks) burned by wildfire many years ago. Many of the dead trees have fallen and are lying on the ground. I liked the starkness of the black trees against the softness of the white snow.

This was early December a couple of years ago in the Canadian Rockies (outside the national parks). I spotted the river from the road and decided to out the drone up. The patterns of the ice forming and the bright teal water underneath was mesmerizing!
I love how using a drone gives you a perspective that you don’t get from below on the ground.
This river in the Rockies had started icing over and the colour of the water under the ice was stunning!
