Les Championnats du monde indoor d’athlétisme se terminent avec une dernière journée spectaculaire, marquée par un record du monde égalé, des performances de très haut niveau et encore des Français tout proches des médailles. Sur 800 m, Keely Hodgkinson confirme son statut de patronne mondiale avec une victoire impressionnante en 1’55’’30, record des championnats. Derrière, Audrey Werro et Addison Wiley profitent du rythme pour signer des performances de classe mondiale, tandis que Clara Liberman découvre le très haut niveau en finale. Sur 1500 m, Agathe Guillemot passe tout près de la médaille avec une superbe 4e place en 3’59’’71, record de France indoor et passage symbolique sous les 4 minutes. La course est remportée par Georgia Hunter Bell devant Jessica Hull et Nikki Hiltz dans une finale très dense. Sur 60 m haies, Devynne Charlton égale son record du monde en 7’’65, confirmant sa domination sur la discipline devant Nadine Visser et Pia Skrzyszowska. Côté français, Laetitia Bapté et Sasha Alessandrini restent en demi-finales. Le concours de longueur masculin, très attendu, a offert du spectacle avec la victoire surprise du Portugais Gerson Baldé (8m46) devant Mattia Furlani (8m39) et Bozhidar Saraboyukov, tandis que le jeune Cubain Jorge Odelin confirme son immense potentiel. À la perche féminine, Molly Caudery s’impose à 4m85 dans un concours dense où Marie-Julie Bonnin termine 7e avec 4m70 malgré une performance proche du podium. Sur 800 m hommes, le jeune Américain Cooper Lutkenhaus, seulement 17 ans, devient le plus jeune champion du monde de l’histoire avec 1’44’’24 devant Eliott Crestan et Mohamed Attaoui. Enfin, les relais 4x400 m ont conclu ces Mondiaux avec des victoires américaines et des performances impressionnantes, notamment Keely Hodgkinson capable d’enchaîner un relais en 50’’ après sa finale du 800 m. Nous revenons également sur le bilan global de l’équipe de France, qui repart de Toruń avec une seule médaille grâce à Yann Schrub, et sur les enseignements à tirer pour la suite de la saison internationale.
