Going through the photos taken yesterday while travelling on #EuroCity #164 #Transalpin. The long consist was first hauled by one #ÖBB 🇦🇹 Class 1016/1116 #Taurus electric, then by two of them for the steep gradients on the #Arlberg line. Finally an #SBB🇨🇭#Re460 brought us, on time, into #Zurich HB.

The last run of the rake currently used on #EuroCity #163 #Transalpin. For the last time, it's a mixed consist of ÖBB 🇦🇹 and SBB🇨🇭cars. It includes the last #ÖBB full 40-seat #DiningCar where I enjoy breakfast. From tomorrow's timetable change on, the consist will essentially be composed of #SBB cars.

First things first: #breakfast ☕️🥐🍳 in the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #EuroCity #163 #Transalpin @diningcar.at. To my knowledge, this is the only -remaining- train with a full, 40-seater, ÖBB diner. (Railjets have got a much smaller dining section.)

Innsbruck 🇦🇹 this afternoon: boarding #EuroCity #Transalpin for #Zurich🇨🇭. This train is (almost) one of a kind: it comes with a Swiss Panorama Car and with one of the very few #ÖBB full diners still remaining in service. Clearly a reason to enjoy a late lunch in the @diningcar.at
Concluding today’s voyage with dinner in the #EuroCity #Transalpin @diningcar.at between #Buchs🇨🇭& #Zurich, one of the few remaining ÖBB 🇦🇹 full diners.They’ve got the winter menu: I went for a nice “Schweinsbraten Tullnerfeld” (pork roast, whatever the meaning behind Tullnerfeld) and an organic beer.

Guten Morgen aus Graz! Heute fahre ich mit dem EC #Transalpin quer durch die österreichischen Alpen von Graz bis Sargans/Zürich. Da ich mit einem 2.-Klasse-Interrail unterwegs bin, sitze ich leider nicht im Panoramawagen, sondern in einem normalen Großraumwagen der SBB.
