He wears chainmail under blue cold weather clothing and leathers. In his hands are a long sword and wooden kite shield. A fluffy grey and black cat named Smudge walks beside him. By level 9, Ragnar has upgraded his armour to a grey breastplate. Around his neck is a silver pentagram and a scratched, gold coin. In his hand he wields a hammer with a head of ice. Within that ice is a violent lightning storm that gives off a blue glow. On his shoulder, stand Smudge, who has been turned into a Tressym via a set of wings. At level 15, Ragnar has geared up for war. He wears a set of full plate armour made from a white metal and adorned with a lightning design motif with blue trim. He is a full foot taller due to his Rune Knight subclass. His hammer is larger and glows green. In his other hand is a shield made of white dragon scales.

First piece of art for 2026 is one I had been working on last year. Ragnar was my D&D character for 5 years and he is very dear to me! 🥹 It was really fun to revisit and update his designs after so long since I last played him!

I recently acquired a #tressym in my #dnd game so I had to doodle the fantastic Lord Bastard! Yes that is his name. Yes he bullies me.

A series of sketches detailing the campaign progression of my old D&D character Ragnar, from his introduction at level 4, to the campaign’s midpoint at level 9, all the way until the end of the campaign at level 15. Hw was my third character for that campaign. He started off a a Champion Fighter, multiclassed into Monster Slayer Ranger, and then later changed his fighter subclass to Rune Knight. Level 4: Ragnar is an older man in his late 50’s, wielding a long sword and kite shield. He wears thick clothes, chain mail, and furs due to her northern climate. At his feet is his fluffy cat familiar, Smudge. Level 9: His design is largely the same, though he has upgraded his chain mail to a breast plate. Around his neck are several magical amulets, including a silver pentagram. Around his head is a circlet of blasting. His weapon of choice is now an icy hammer containing the heart of a storm within it. Smudge had been granted wings, making her a tressym familiar. She is perched on his shoulder. Level 15: Ragnar has grown in size due to his new Rune Knight subclass, and is now wearing full plate armour lightly decorated with a lightning motif. His shield is now made of white dragon scales.

I’ve had these progression sketches of my old D&D character for literally months 😅 I should really finish them up! I played Ragnar for like 5 years and it was a good time 👌🏻 His tressym familiar was called Smudge.
