A single Trixoscelis marginella among many hundreds of T. obscurella and a few T. frontalis at my local dunes Sinah Common yesterday evening. At around 2.5mm this is a small species but quite striking. Uncommon (pNS) and associated with dry sandy places. #Trixoscelididae

Trixoscelis obscurella is the commonest of five UK species in the #Acalyptratae family #Trixoscelididae which are normally found in dry sandy places. The patterned wings and spiny costa are distinctive despite its small size (c. 2.5mm)
