If you have an FM-DX Webserver running based on a #TEF6686 radio (although it now supports some Si4732 radios too, particularly ATS-Mini), there's now a plugin showing #Tropo forecasts for your area ⛅ and it's a model built from scratch, not a copy of Hepburn maps!

On the way back from the 2012 RSGB Convention with G7MRV stopped at Copt Oak / Bardon Hill (SOTA G/CE-004) 250m ASL and caught a beautiful tropo duct across the North Sea into The Netherlands. Needed no more than 5w for 5/9 using FM on the Yaesu 7800. Happy days! #144mhz #RSGB #tropo #144mhzdx #dx

In the evening, I connected an UV-K5 with a flowerpot antenna and tried some #tropo #DX on #VHF. It was great to hear and decode the #CW beacon of the UV-K5 (with #IJV 3.4 firmware) via #WebSDR of DM2NT in #Halle an der Saale. Very interesting #propagation. 😀

Part of a table of logs submitted to FMLIST for each day, categorized per number of Es logs, number of "receivers" (contributors) submitting Es logs, number of Tropo logs, number of DAB Tropo logs, number of "receivers" contributing all Tropo receptions, and same for Meteor Scatter (MS). Generally, the number of Tropo logs on FM ranged oscillated around 100 but started to rise on January 13th, as a high-pressure area built between UK & France first. As it moved, the number of logs was just rising, to peak at 2256 on Jan 18th, and 2550 on Jan 19th. Likewise, DAB logs peaked at 676 on the 18th.

Globally, these days have indeed seen a surge in #tropo logs in FMLIST, both for FM and DAB/+, peaking at 2256 on 18th (Sat) and 2550 (Sunday) for FM, and 676 & 352, respectively, for DAB+.

13 new logs came from Sweden,
3 from Denmark,
2 from Lithuania,
2 in Konigsberg exclave of naZi ruZZia,
2 in belaruZZia,
and remaining 31 logs were domestic - almost all N of 52N!
Most distant transmitter was Sunne/Blabarskullen TM @ 997km, with 90.9 SR P1 & 94.5 SR P2.

Map of FM radio receptions via Tropo made January 16th-21st, 2025 at my QTH in NE Poland. A number of stations from South Sweden made it, along with a few Danish ones, some NW Ukraine, and some odd Slovak stations despite my antenna pointing WNW. Above all, a very dense "cluster" of stations logged covers all the upper half of Poland & SW Belarus, and even stretches as far West as NE Germany (Helpterberg, 105.8 MHz).
OK, VHF conditions look like only just above nominal here at the moment, so I think it's time to sum up this #MegaTropo 🌊
Over the 5 days of Jan 16-20, 2024, I made 222 logs, of which 53 were all-new:
6 on Thursday,
10 on Friday,
2 on Saturday,
23 on Sunday 💪,
and 13 on Monday.

89.5-90.1 MHz signals in NE Poland at 15:15 UTC January 20th, 2024. Antenna used was a 5-element LFA Yagi. Sorry for an obstruction in form of station map for 89.8 MHz, which I was tuned to & decoding RDS :)
Same 89.5-90.1 MHz slice 4 hours later, at 19:17 UTC Jan 20th, 2024, in NE Poland. Same 5-element LFA Yagi was pointing in the same direction. None of the signals captured were strong enough to produce an RDS decode.
After 5x 24 hours of real madness, VHF #tropo conditions seem to have finally taken a nosedive 📉
These screenshots were taken approx. 4 hours apart and show the same slice of the FM band here. Some DX is still there but it's weakening.
