#TuesTeaser I'm gonna talk about character strengths and flaws.

MC1, Placida: the one who's "difficult to like" as a reader, because we see into her head! She's distrustful and cynical, projecting her own anxieties onto others. She's envious and impatient.

But she tries to be the opposite... 🧵

“Good day, your Lordship,” she said. Usually, she attempted to moderate her Australian accent, if only to limit the number of convict jokes she had to endure. This time, she exaggerated it: “G’dai, yer Loardshep!”
It did the trick. The Claimant paused a second and turned and gave her a look, followed by a leer.
“I knew your father,” Gladys said. “Briefly.”
“Into chorus girls, was he?” the Claimant sneered.
And this was the worst thing he could possibly have said, because now Miss Gladys Dunchurch was his enemy.

A quote from my novel ‘The Grimsdale Claimant.’

The story draws from the real-life case of the Tichfield Claimant, albeit with more steam-mechas, occultist cults and time-travelling ghosts than the original.

You can find it here, other platforms coming soon.

Some brooding guys get manic pixie fairy girlfriends as less-grumpy-bastard aid.

Rarkin gets a cheerful lesbian pro-boxer as a best friend. And her bold, cheeky, too-perceptive pansexual girlfriend keeping him on his toes.

CPTSD & family dysfunction are shit, but recovery can be fun.

"Wishing, not for the first time, that I wasn’t so freakishly tall and conspicuously queer."

A small banner featuring the title of the first story in Archive of Memory, Nightfall. Part of a drawing of the main character's distinct tattoo sleeve is in the background. Jaye's arms is raised, ready to fight. The tattoo starts as a goddess-like figure at her wrist, and flows upwards in fire-like swirls, ending in a arrow-like point at the shoulder.
