The following is taken from Wikipedia: The Menzellinde is a small-leaved lime tree and is about 15 meters tall, with a crown diameter of 14 meters and a trunk circumference of 3.50 meters. The age of the lime tree is estimated at 200–300 years. Due to the lack of old wood inside the trunk, it is not possible to determine its exact age. The branches of the crown are connected with strap systems and iron rings to prevent the strong branches from breaking off. Even in Menzel's time, there were concerns that the linden tree might disappear due to increasing urban development. (Therefore, it is difficult to take a photo without cars parked nearby.) In 1996, the lime tree was classified as a natural monument due to its distinctive features and age, combined with its cultural significance.
