Targeting LCN2/NLRP3 axis inhibits pyroptosis and aids mitochondrial rescue, exerting dual anti-epileptic therapeutic effects through Tunneling nanotube-mediated astrocyte-neuron mitochondria transfer #neuroscience #tunnelingnanotubes #cell-cellcommunication

Thats interesting!
Must read.
I vote for transfer via #TunnelingNanotubes of course.
#TunnelingNanotubes are membranous extensions of cells that mediate cell contact-dependent intercellular transport of organelles and viruses. In our recent study of SARS-CoV-2 in tissue from patients, we found them in post-infected samples from matched tissue specimens. www.cell.com/iscience/ful...
Wow!
Is (some of) the literature on #mitochodria transfer via #tunnelingnanotubes simply an artefact of mitotracker transfer?
www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Also, soapbox moment: #TunnelingNanotubes and intercellular transfer of #mitochondria are not new concepts. At all.
They both have been known and identified nearly two decades ago.
I will discuss anywhere and at anytime during the course of #AACR25.
Thank you.
Awesome!
Tunneling nanotubes are getting to the mainstream high profile journals!

Beautiful imagery.
Cell Protrusions for the win in this February cover image of Shigella toxin inducing filopodia, in @naturemicrobiol.bsky.social
Viruses, bacteria, and other sources of cellular stress induce changes in cellular morphology - including #tunnelingnanotubes and others as well.
#TunnelingNanotubes and Intercellular Communication finally getting some recognition in 2025! I hope the trend continues for grant reviews (for those quarters where that is still occurring).
quite interesting!

How did I miss this preprint, posted in June?
Looks really intersting.
They suggest transfer of mRNA, ribosomes & translating ribosomes through #TunnelingNanotubes in pancreatic cancer, promoted by chemo.
Added to the reading pile.

oh nice.
A virus that is associated with fatal neurologic disease in humans is spreading between cells via #TunnelingNanotubes -like connections.

I'm not 😔
I was planning to, but no RNA session, and my proposed session on #tunnelingnanotubes was not accepted.
it's too far and expensive to come just for a poster and no relevant sessions.
Are #TunnelingNanotubes considered part of the microenvireonment?
If you agree that they are, please add me to the list.
Thanks!
#TunnelingNanotubes are long filamentous actin-based cell protrusions that create communication networks between cells, especially in cancer. Here, an especially long nanotube transmits GFP-expressing oncolytic virus, a mechanism for propagation of the bystander effect.

I wanted to make a TNTs starter pack for #TunnelingNanotubes, #Cytoneme just for the fun of it.
But as far as I can tell it's only me, @labogden.bsky.social & @erichall.bsky.social and Bluesky requires at least 8 for a pack...
I hope the people I know from Twitter will join us here.
I'm reposting the thread about our latest paper for the benefit of my 300+ new followers(!)
I hope it'll interest you

I made a starter pack for cytoskeleton people

but by relatively under-studied cellular structures called #tunnelingnanotubes or TNTs for short. These ar long thin, actin-based open-ended tubes that connect cells and can transfer organnelles, proteins, viruses and - as I discovered, mRNAs.
