Thanks to all for joining us for our first #TxIDChat on Bluesky. Let us know if you have ideas or comments for future #TxIDChats!
I’d love to have a serum Aspergillus PCR. We have a diagnostic stewardship group that helps monitor use of these tests which has been helpful to steer more appropriate use. #TxIDChat
A5. For a while we used Viracor’s fungal plus PCR BAL test (Aspergillus, Mucor, Nocardia) pretty broadly. Until we analyzed our data and realized it wasn’t that helpful clinically and we stopped (still can add on as desired). Karius is highly regulated due to cost, we don’t use often. #TxIDChat

I truly enjoy this paper illustrating the potential for personalized antimicrobial decision making in #Transplant patients. Any tool to help reduce the guesswork in #antimicrobial prescribing is appreciated. #TxIDChat

I think with regards to risk counseling we (TxID) have become less dogmatic and generally more open to counseling on harm reduction. #TxIDChat

That’s very enterprising! I like that we are recognizing how different platform / modalities are useful to different learners. #TxIDChat
A3. No we are nowhere near that stage. I personally have ethical concerns about it, particularly with so many unanswered questions on infection transmission and subsequent management. Def appreciate the bold people working on this though! #TxIDchat

A2. We have a website for general ID with videos and some questions. My colleague Rachel Sigler has an app she built for stewardship education for med students, is considering building one for global/public health/ID as well. Rachel also has donor call simulation #TxIDChat
We have been using Factile to create jeopardy and that’s been particularly fun way of learning medicine! #TxIDChat

So interesting! Recently talked to our Epic data analytics team. There’s definitely talk about laying down the foundation w/ data from EMR (Epic) to feed into using AI. Potentially in prediction and planning. Eg #antibiotic high use pop’n such as #transplant. #TxIDChat
I'm behind the times on adopting AI; I'm curious what others are using/doing! #TxIDChat #IDSky #MedSky
A1. We’ve had a partial roll out of an AI microphone that listens in on clinic visits and summarizes them for you. It has not been offered to ID, but my colleague is using it in her hepatology clinic with mixed success. I’m a fan of Mayo’s OpenEvidence AI app for clinical info.
