Pleased to be at #Ukgc25 at @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social and seeing so many old friends - please come and say hi if you haven't already 💚🫂 🇮🇪
I've created a card in the UKGovCamp 2026 ( #ukgc25 ) board for someone to pickup the logo design trello.com/c/UbFeUsMz
It's my last day volunteering for @ukgovcamp.com today (I'm resigning to focus on other volunteering) but rest assured, the remaining organisers will pick this up.
I'm working on a, "UKGovCamp podcast proposal" docs.google.com/document/d/1... by me for @ukgovcamp.bsky.social 8 April 2025.

I've published, "Post ukgc25 accounts" www.ukgovcamp.com/2025/03/01/p... on behalf of @ukgovcamp.bsky.social for whom I'm treasurer.

Finally got to write up my thoughts on UK GovCamp 2025, it was a bit of a different vibe for me this year:

I finally got around to synthesising all the thoughts running around my head since #ukgc25 last week... jallen300.medium.com/uk-govcamp-2...
What love to hear what others think about all this...
This is makes me even more gutted to have missed #ukgc25 last weekend. (tbf I suffer FOMO even when I'm there because of all the great sessions I know I'm missing. Not to mention corridor camp).
Harry shares some of the AI themes from last week's UKGovCamp.
"What I noted most was a theme of pragmatism. The mood seemed to me to be “This is happening, how do we make sure it’s done well?”.
Thanks again to everyone for such an inspiring day!

Dear #ukgc25 pals
So we spent a happy our asking "the National Data Library, what is it?"
I am writing some stuff on the Blueprint for modern digital and I have a similar question: "the Gov.app what is it?
I think its a political announcement looking for a problem to fix...
I couldn't make it to #UKGC25 this year, so here is my write-up of the *first* @ukgovcamp.bsky.social I attended back in 2012.

GovCamp #ukgc25 is the last one standing, and that’s a different thing in many ways
5. It’s the one day of the year where we don’t have to justify ourselves. When we don’t have to fight for our place at the table, or explain why UCD is important.
Digital transformation is an uphill struggle, and it’s nice to spend a tiny bit of time with people who think just like you.
#ukgc25
(Side note: I was very touched to hear some of these values mirrored back to me on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who came up to me and said you liked my positivity and authenticity on social media. Your encouragement helps me keep going ❤️)
#ukgc25
3. It’s a reconnection with my values, and a day to surround myself with people I admire and whose leadership style I try to emulate.
Positivity, generosity, authenticity, public good - my values, which are shared by so many in this space.
#ukgc25
2. It’s interesting to hear what the mood music is. Are the pitches hopeful or doom-mongery? What’s the zeitgeist-y topic (this year it was AI)? It’s a sample of the prevailing conversation going on in our communities.
#ukgc25
1. Govcamp is a collective force of positive energy. You can’t help but leave feeling more optimistic than when you arrived. 250+ people turn up voluntarily on a Saturday, and what connects us is a desire to make things better. And there are so many more who wanted to be there but couldn’t.
#ukgc25
I’ve stuck with govcamp longer than I have many of my jobs.
So why do I keep coming back? Why spend my weekends and my own money going to an event related to my job?
What makes it so special?
#ukgc25
I’ve been associated with UKGovcamp since 2020. First as a campmaker, then an organiser, now a regular attendee.
It’s a very special day, and I always keep the 3rd Saturday in January free so that I can attend (ticket lottery permitting!).

Sat down to write long-form but I don’t have the energy. Back to microblogging!

Thanks for helping out at @ukgovcamp.bsky.social #ukgc25 (-:
Out of interest, how many GovCampers d'you reckon were still in the pub, come closing time, please? (I assume you were there on Saturday)

Cool. There was interest at @ukgovcamp.bsky.social 2025 ( #ukgc25 ) to reboot OneTeamGov, so thought I'd start with the virtual breakfast otgbv290125.eventbrite.com (hence checking if it conflicted with OTGNorth
dusting off a blog post I wrote an eye-wateringly long time ago because it feels like an important conversation (still? again?) and popped up from my memory during the National Data Library session at #ukgc25 - "data" means many things to many people. medium.com/towards-data...
Mostly I'm thinking how different #ukgc25 would have been if it had been next weekend instead of last weekend now this blueprint has been released! 😂😂😂

Not read it for a few years - but it goes into the rage that made the great purge of 1937 so popular with people in the Soviet Union
