Hats off to anyone in UK academia right now who is turning up for work, marking essays, meeting students, giving lectures, holding seminars, being there for colleagues and also facing the threat of redundancy, voluntary or compulsory. It’s a grim and surreal time #UKhigherEd

So Rachel Reeves announces funding for Oxbridge corridor in a week in which regional universities like Cardiff announce 400+ job losses. Absolutely, horrific from a Labour Government #UKHigherEd It just crystallises how this government keep missing the mark.

Perhaps all of #UKHigherEd should have to do one of those annual mandatory trainings, but it’s just reading Warwick University Ltd every January…?

The BBC 4 Today show produced by Professor Irene Tracey, VC of Oxford, put out some much needed positive stories about U.K. higher ed. The problem, as ever, is how Oxbridge/RG-centred this discourse becomes. It’s a skewed picture that doesn’t address the complexity of the #UKHigherEd sector.

Feeling grateful to have made it through my first full term as an Assistant Professor! Survived student evaluations with a 4.5/5 rating and no negative comments—almost brought me to tears (the good kind).🤩 One of my favourite comments was "Nice guy, relatable" 😂 #proud #academia #UKhigherEd.
