I loved hosting St Margaret’s, St Matthew’s and Hillside for #UKParliamentWeek.

We had a good chat about my job, but the really fun bit was when I asked the pupils to create their own political parties, including leaders, pledges and a logo.

They then had to stand for election!

Last week was #UKParliamentWeek!

Great to join events in Westminster & the constituency – from a mock debate at the University of Surrey with Christ’s College students, to welcoming George Abbot to Parliament, chatting with Onslow Guides, and announcing my Christmas card winner at Raleigh School.

One of my highlights from #UKParliamentWeek was a session at Haslemere Primary School, where I am proud to serve as Chair of Governors.

Year 4 and 5 had brilliant ideas for our local democracy, and Max’s pledge to spread compassion and kindness if he were a councillor really stayed with me 💜

This morning for #UKParliamentWeek I was with our sisters at Ricards Lodge High School. I was really impressed by their knowledge of women in politics and the history of the fight to get more of their voices heard in the decisions that affect us all.

Our democracy belongs to all of us 🗳️

Brilliant energy at Framingham Earl High School for #UKParliamentWeek.

The class grilled me like a room of mini Jeremy Paxmans: climate, immigration, animal welfare and even fiscal drag!

Young people are switched on and ready to lead. Thanks for having me!

Fantastic to greet pupils from Cheam High for #UKParliamentWeek in Westminster Hall last week. Some superb questions on the future of the planet, immigration and what it's like to work in Parliament.

Young people like this give me hope for the rest of us! 😅
