#OTD 3rd Jan 1945, my grandfathers unit, No.1 Army Cdo (along with the rest of 3 Cdo Bde) landed on Akyab on the Arakan coastline, as part of Operation Lightning, to secure vital port & airstrips for future operations against the Japanese.

#OTD 1918, my grandfather, Thomas Hall was born in Cwmbran. He served throughout the SWW with a few units, Monmouthshire Regt, Independent Companies & No.1 Army Commando.
Sadly passed away '82, when I was only 12.
Always in my thoughts, never be forgotten.
