Two mergansers (a type of duck) are seen in the middle of a creek paddling upstream. The female has a grey body and a red head and is swimming in front of the male with his bright white feathers on his wings and chest and deep black feathers on his head. The far bank can be seen with some green new growth shooting up from the midst of the dead grasses from last fall, and the trees and bushes beyond are still bare.
Spotted a pair of mergansers in the creek on my way home this evening, and was finally able to get a good pic of them! I’ve seen them in the area off and on for the past year.
