2 of my 11 #VMDIFF19 films left me feeling disturbed & anxious afterwards, to the point its taken a couple of days to appreciate them. Both were E. European films where the (lack of) mental health of central characters provided the storyline, #Fugue & #SummerSurvivors
Last night was #WhatTimeIsDeath at #VMDIFF19 throughly enjoyable look at the latest #KLF venture to build a monument, The People's Pyramid, out of 34,952 bricks made from the remains of dead people but the 1st audience question was some dope asking abt the burning of the million
By 5th #VMDIFF19 I was getting that out of body from watching loads of art films in a short period - it turned out #HappyAsLazzaro is magic realist so now I'm floating on a cloud revolving around Italian peasant poverty & exploitation then V the fate of the dispossessed today
Just out of Tunisian #DearSon film at #VMDIFF19 - probably should be compulsory viewing for anyone sounding off about #isisschoolgirl crisis for its portrayal of the devastating impact on the parents when their only son vanishes without warning & they hear he has gone to Syria
