Gareth probably smells like leather & polish since he spends most of his free time treating his weapons & armor.

Trusting Solas is probably at the top of his list. It cost him so much.

I’ll get into it more in my fic, but leaving his clan unprotected after Trespasser turned out to be a pretty big misstep for him as well.

Vax bonds the quickest with Josie. She’s one of the first to show him sympathy & understanding.
He thinks Leliana is fierce & smart & tends to take her advice to heart more than the other two.
Cullen takes the longest to grow on Vax, but he respects his strategy & tactical prowess.

Vax actively gives his potions away as often as possible. His philosophy is “if I put myself between the danger and others then they will be safer…I’ll be fine” which does tend to stress out his friends quite a lot.

Vax prefers to talk it out right then & there, but Dorian tends to need space to process so he will go off to practice with his bow or work on whatever small craft he has at the time until Dorian comes to find him. They talk through it & then it’s kisses & cuddles & then they’re fine.

Vax put in some effort because Josie would kill him if he didn’t! 😂 But he understands the he optics of his role so when he has to he can go full glam.
Most of the time, however, you’ll find him with his hair partly tied back, in comfortable clothes & no shoes.

Vax can never completely ignore the Anchor. At best it’s a dull ache like pins & needles and at its worst it’s sharp, searing pain shooting all the way up his arm.

He tries his best to downplay the pain so others don’t worry, even when it’s literally tearing him apart.

Vax hates the idea of Circles. He believes that mages should be free & given a place they can learn to hone their magic without fear of oppression/abuse.
He was adamant that any mage that joined the Inquisition felt safe & welcomed & would raise hell if someone tried to cause trouble.

Vax sees himself as a strong leader now, but he definitely didn’t start that way. He struggled A LOT at the beginning w his role as Herald/Inquisitor and had to slowly build his confidence and skill set over time. Poor lil guy was so scared and alone for a long time.
