(Book review) >Secrets Kept< Oh, Bennett (Ben) Carter Mazzone and Sierra (Firefly) Lawson could light up the New York skyline with their chemistry. Especially when they are at odds with one another. Hate f*cking never sounded so good. Hehehe! Shifting gears, this definitely has some dark elements. The first harrowing situation comes quickly as Sierra and Penelope find themselves somewhere no sane person wants to be. In many ways, I wish this was the only rough situation Sierra finds herself in. Don't get me wrong, the darkness is... its own brand of crazy that I expect in a Mafia book, but I like Sierra early on and feel a kinship that wants to spare her from harm and anguish. -- Book quote 'I focus on my friend, and the need to protect her, because it’s the only way I won’t fall apart. One of us needs to stay composed, or neither of us will survive this.' -- Sierra Lawson There are a ton of twists and turns throughout. Some I suspected early and others I picked up barely before they were revealed. They combined into a riveting story that had me staying up WAY too late to listen to more. So worth it! I listened the audio book as part of the >Mazzone Mafia Complete Series.< As much as I REALLY wish this was duet, the narrators, Veronica Fox and Gideon Frost, do a good job bringing the tension and general emotions to the surface. 🎧💛🎧 I can't wait for the rest of the series! Story: 4.5 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 21/29/35; h = 13/21/27
