Yes- horses can get membranous nephropathy! Really nice spikes and holes on the silver stain and subepithelial complexes confirmed on EM. This horse had nephrotic edema and hypoalbuminemia. UPC was 5.8. #vetneph

So just keep the lilies out of the house if you have cats! Cats are drawn to the smells and colors of the lily plant- don't risk keeping one inside! Cats can't resist the temptation to rub their face on the flowers (ingesting pollen) or chew on the petals! #vetneph

The phrase of the day is "treacherous ureter".
Used in a sentence: My bulldog has idiopathic renal hematuria and apparently bulldogs tend to have treacherous ureters, which makes them less than ideal candidates for sclerotherapy.

Interface screen of the CARPEDIEM dialysis machine. Blood flow rate is 15 ml/minute. Performing 35 ml/hour of ultrafiltration.
Modification of a triple lumen central line to be able to achieve high enough blood flow rates for ERRT. Two lumens were joined together as arterial access leaving the third one for return.
Really appreciate the CARPEDIEM- allowed us to treat hyperk (10mmol/L) AKI from reperfusion injury in a cat after its bilateral femoral arterial theomboemboli recanulized. Was able to use triple lumen jug cath for PIRRT. Blood flow of 15ml/min isn’t bad when your circuit is 32ml! #vetneph

My daughter got "Good Dog, Carl" for her first birthday. I started reading it to her, and then promptly had to explain to her that grapes are nephrotoxic to dogs! Don't let your kids feed the dog grapes! #vetneph

More TPE for IMHA. It also seems to be the most effective means of correcting hyperbiliribinemia. Treatment #1 reduced it by 68%. Tx 2 in process. #vetneph because #vetheme isn’t always comfortable performing apheresis.
Very nice recent publication from the folks at the International Veterinary Renal Pathology Service showing survival outcome between glomerular reaction patterns in dogs. Next we need to specifically look at treatment to see what therapies may improve survival. doi.org/10.1111/jvim... #vetneph
