That’s the #Victober 2025 reading challenge complete!
Apart from Alice in Wonderland, I have not read any of the other works before. It was a lot of fun! I’ve read books that have been on my TBR for ages and discovered Margaret Oliphant.
The book I liked the most was Wives and Daughters!

Really enjoyed the group read, Hester by Margaret Oliphant. I liked how complex and flawed the characters were.
This completes two of the challenges: reading a work by an underrated Victorian female author and a work where a character experiences a change in class status.

I am falling behind quite a bit but I finally completed another challenge which was to read a Victorian work that discusses education. Loved rereading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. It’s so whimsical, silly and fun! #Victober

Penguin paperback of Dombey and Son, with mildly creased front cover.
Got a head start on #victober last month, so I've just finished my first read. I love how the cover of this copy looks almost as beat as my previous copy--which I lost last month a few days into rereading, and had originally bought 23 years ago 😆

As it’s #Victober I’m reading Great Expectations, which deserves a Giallo film adaptation. Proper snort at the ‘sickest woman in the room’, who we’ve all definitely worked with at some point.
