Hi Reaching out regarding images for the title Dogma (1999). Our Content Standards team have identified that the current images attached to Dogma are non-compliant due to "offensive religious" content. When we say "offensive religious" content we mean the use of sacred symbols, deities, or figures in contexts that differ from their original purpose or sanctified meaning, including the ironic, secular, or subversive application of holy imagery. Misappropriation or displacement of sacred symbols into controversial settings can be seen as disrespectful or distressing to the religious audience who hold these images to high spiritual significance. In this case, for Dogma, there is a satirical depiction of Jesus on the poster, smiling, winking, and giving a thumbs- up, which as I'm sure you know was quite controversial when the film was first released. Also, the poster features actors like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in modern clothing with large, realistic wings depicting them as angels. These portrayals of a symbol and/or figure in a modern or ironic setting could be perceived as a misinterpretation of its original sanctified meaning which ultimately sets off our "sensitive content" threshold. Can we discuss using an alternative image to represent the program that still achieves the vision but also respects our guidelines? All the best,
